Parkette, Challenger, and Thriftime

PK2397 $25

Parker Deluxe Challenger Mechanical Pencil,US, ca. 1936, black and silvery green celluloid, bright chrome trim, triangular clip with ball at end is engraved:  Parker.  Black cap jewel.  Triple cap bands. Twist to extend and retract 1.1mm diameter lead.  Measures 4.75 inches long.  Clear Parker barrel imprint.  Name engraved on barrel:
Lucille.  Brassing to the cap bands, otherwise very good condition.

PK2455  $45

Parker Parkette Duette Junior Mechanical Pencils, ca. late 1920s – early 1930s, Moderne Green and Pearl, gold filled clip and trim.  Triangular ball clip is marked: Parker.  Single band at cap edge.  Twist to extend and retract 1.1mm diameter lead. Measures 4.5 inches long. The color is slightly darker than original, but far better than most from this era, I’d give it an 8 out of 10 with 10 being perfect.  The flat top cap screw is totally brassed as is the top of the clip ball.  There is also some brassing to the cap band and ferrule.  This Duette, part of Parker’s series of Depression era writing instruments is very difficult to find and this one is in far, far better condition than most.  As with most pencils, the celluloid has fared far better than on fountain pens due to the lack of exposure
to a rubber sac.   Overall very good and a not often seen Parker.

Parker 41, 61, 65 and 75

PK2442 $100

Parker 41 Fountain Pen, ca. early 1950s, USA, Grey barrel, Lustraloy cap (incorrect), black jewel, polished steel feathered clip. Aerometric filling – fills only from a bottle.  Filler is marked  To Fill Press Ribbed Bar Four Times. Use Dry Writing Superchrome Ink. Wipe front end point down with soft tissue. Use Parker Ink. The Parker Pen Co Made in USA. Parker 41. The words Parker 41 are double struck on the filler.  Measures 5.5 inches long.  Octanium hooded nib is a firm extra fine point.  A bit of an oddity with the Parker 41 markings on filler and the black jewel, but on the lustraloy cap, plus there is a tiny hole drilled in the barrel end.  Several small bumps on the barrel otherwise quite nice and indeed a bit of an oddity.

PK2509  $10

Parker 45

The Parker 45 was first introduced in 1960 and was based on the original Eversharp 10,000 design that Parker acquired with the acquisition of Eversharp in the late 1950s. Parker 45s were last produced in 2007. They are one of the Parker pens that I wouldn't be at all surprised to see a retro version of in the future. Great value for a workhorse pen! Sometimes people think all Parker 45s are the same, but that is far from the truth. Collectibility and pricing is all based on a variety of factors - rarity of color or finish, cap material and trim, nib material and width as well as the condition. Parker 45s are cartridge/converter fill.

PK2395  $30

Parker France,  Parker 45 Display Card, ca. late 1960s. Features illustrations of the Parker 45 ballpoint pen, marker and Super Quink ink cartridges.  Printed in black, grey, and red on white background.  Two metal clips on the back of the Display Card to clip onto a Parker Display of 45 family products.  Unusual shape with the angled top – 8.25 in wide, 9.75 in height to top right corner, 8.5 in height to top left corner.  Shows some very minor shop wear on the edges and a few light marks.   Definitely not something you see everyday, a quite unusual piece of Parker – France history. Very good condition.

B1634 $5

Parker advertising blotter, ca. 1990s, white with black imprint. Measures 2.75 x 4 5/8 inches. Never used, perfect condition.

P861 $25

Parker Pen Company Packing List, ca. 1940s. Not dated, found with WWII era Parker Quink boxes and the style of the packing list seems to fit in with that era as well.

It's made out to Hoke Drug Co in Raeford, NC and was for a lighted display case of some sort. Parker sent 30 dozen bottles of Quink Ink to offset the cost of the display. The Parker address is Court and Division Sts in Janesville. Measures 5 3/8 x 11 inches. There is a burn mark center left and a tear in the center, blue ink smudge in lower right corner. All in all it has survived the years quite well and seems to have outlasted the Hoke Drug Company which no longer seems to be in business.

P862 $75

Parker Illustrated Heritage Calendar - Parker 1997 Heritage Calendars have a story to tell and the illustrations are magnificent. Truly works of art, the illustrations were recreated from old black and white Parker advertisements, skillfully restored and hand colored. Each page of the calendar is 16.5 x 23.5 inches with a small monthly reference calendar at the bottom of the page, the colored print is above the calendar. The calendar was printed on a gloss heavy white stock, very suitable for framing should you so desire. There is also a bound in full sized page explaining the history of the advertising prints in English and five other languages. These calendars are in pristine condition inside a protective cardboard envelope. Each illustration features a different advertisement with Parker Pens from the early Lucky Curve era. Early black and white Parker advertisements using these illustrations and from same era sell for $10-$15 each. These colored illustrations are far more beautiful and a very limited quantity was produced. Four of the twelve illustrations are shown just to give you an overall feel for the beauty of the Parker artwork. A must have for the serious Parker collector!

PK2226 $25

Parker Duofold Mosaic Retail Display Pad - In 2001 Parker introduced the special edition Mosaic Duofold series. This retail counter display was used to show the pen to customers and attract attention to the new Duofold. It is an exceptional display piece made of printed acrylic, the mosaic design is hard to capture but it lies in the background in a subtle grey against the shiny very dark black background. Printed in the lower right corner is Parker Duofold Mosaic logo in silver, white and red. Measures 17.25 x 10.75 inches, small rubber raised feet on the underside. There is a little bit of light surface wear, overall very nice condition. Great item for the Parker collector. Far fewer of these displays were made than Parker Mosaic pens themselves!

PK2233 $20

Parker Mandarin Duofold Poster - Large poster sized reprint of an original Parker 1927 advertisement for the Parker Duofold Mandarin and other Duofolds. High quality printing, measures 24.5 x 19 inches and very suitable for framing. Originally produced by the Parker Pen Co. Mint condition.

Parker Window-Counter Display for Parker Quink Ink. Ca. 1940s. Marked in bottom left corner: Display No. 6704-R - Made in USA. The attached large cardboard easel on the back side has never been used. Measures 14 x 21 inches. Large illustration on top half of a desk top with Parker Quink Permanent Blue-Black, a Parker Vacumatic fountain pen, smoking pipe and a framed photograph. Even though there is no mention of World War II, all of the advertising lines Parker used for this Display Sign point to that era and were frequently used in their magazine advertising in the 1940s; "protects your pen with solv-x, prevents breakdown of metal and rubber, keeps pens out of the repair shop" Very minor "bumps" on each corner, this sign has survived the past 80 or so years in amazingly excellent condition.
