Clear vinyl with blue Sheaffer imprint at top. Measures 5.5 x 1.5 inches. I had not seen these before, they have a sort of 1970s look, but I could be off a few years on dating these. These remind me a little bit of those nerdy, but popular pocket protectors. Never used and in excellent condition.

Sheaffer Retail Display Pad

This retail display pad would have been provided to Sheaffer Pen retailers for displaying and showing Sheaffer pens to their customers. The pads measure 10 x 14 inches. Velvety soft brown velor finish on top with white dot and Sheaffer in dark green. The back side is brown non-slip vinyl. None have been used, all in new condition.

We had not seen these before and I am speculating they came out of Sheaffer-UK since the shipping carton they were found in was marked Sheaffer Hemel Hempstead.

On Nov 18, 2008, a customer in Australia graciously shared with us that in the late 1980s he worked in a pen shop and they used these exact retail display pads in the shop. We now know that at least they were used by Sheaffer dealers in Australia!

Sheaffer Paintings Exhibit
Commemorative Poster

During the month of November 2005, 13 original works of art by distinguished artists Andrew Loomis, Coles Phillips, Frederic Mizen, John Newton Howitt and Lester Bentley were exhibited at the Fort Madison Art Center. These paintings were commissioned by Sheaffer Pen from the 1920s - 1940s and had never before left the halls of Sheaffer headquarters in Fort Madison, Iowa.

50 posters were made for the exhibit and all proceeds from the posters go to the Fort Madison Art Center who graciously sponsored the Sheaffer Paintings exhibit.

The poster measures 11 x 17 and is printed in full color on heavy gloss stock. The photo featured is by Andrew Loomis.

SH1961	Sheaffer Flat Top Fountain Pen, Model 89C, ca. late 1920s, black permanite with solid 14KT gold clip and half inch wide cap band. White dot in top of cap. Lever fill - fills only from a bottle. Sheaffers 14KT gold nib is marked: Sheaffer'S Lifetime Reg US Pat Off. Very firm medium point. Pen measures 0.5 inch diameter and is 5.25 inches long. The solid gold cap band is engraved in script: F.F. Caldwell. There are several very small marks on the lower cap band edge, it looks to me as if someone tried to push the cap band into place? Aside from these little cap band marks, the pens is in excellent condition - a really nice example.	$450
SH1988	Sheaffer Flat Top Mechanical Pencil, ca. late 1920s, black radite with gold filled crown and humped flat ball clip. Sheaffer’S engraved on clip. Twist mechanism uses 1.1mm diameter leads. This is a rather petite pencil, measures 4.5 inches long. One very shallow ding to crown edge at top, otherwise very good condition.	$40
SH2146VT	Sheaffer Slim Lifetime Pencil - I refer to this as "light jade", others disagree, but I know by saying it's light jade, ya'll know that it's not the bright jade green! Gold filled trim, nice imprints, twist activated mechanism uses 1.1mm diameter leads. Measures 5 1/8 inches long. Excellent color, we have 2 of this model available and surprisingly the condition is virtually identical.	$50
SH2147VT	Sheaffer Senior Lifetime Pencil - Evenly colored jade green pencil is more of an olive green color, a bit unusual. Gold filled trim, crisp SheafferS engraved on the clip. Twist activated mechanism uses 1.1mm diameter leads. Measures 5.25 inches long. Unfortunately, this pencil has an angled crown due to owner abuse! Argh! Great user pencil.	$20

SH2203	Sheaffer Snorkel Fountain Pen and Pencil Set in original box, ca. 1954. Pastel green with gold filled trim, white dots on cap above clips. Fountain Pen has a 14KT gold two tone Triumph nib in fine point. Snorkel filling – fills only from a bottle. The matching mechanical pencil is twist activated and uses 0.9mm diameter leads. Original box in excellent condition with instructions stored below the pen and pencil. The cap bands on this set have a special engraving: Joyce Evans Ft. Madison Rodeo 1954. Miss Evans was the Rodeo Queen in 1954 and since Sheaffer provided gift pens for various rodeo contestants over the years, I think it’s a pretty safe assumption that this set was given to Miss Evans for being Rodeo Queen. FP and MP are fully restored and in excellent condition. Quite unusual!	$150

Fineliner Pencils

Fineliners are classic Sheaffer pencils that many people are quick to recognize. Great writers, dependable and just hard to beat!

Sheaffer "TX" Mechanical Pencils are a slimmer version of the Fineliner with a single solid color (no mother of pearl look). Also very sturdy, utilitarian pencils.

SH2215	Sheaffer Fineliner Fountain Pen - ca. 1950s, black cap and barrel with bright chrome trim, lever fill – fills only from a bottle. This pen had never been used, no ink in the nib and the sac showed no signs of ink either, however, we went ahead and replaced the sac since after 50 years, it was due to fail one of these years! Sheaffer Fineliner medium point nib in polished steel – nib has never been used. Measures 5.25 inches long. Barrel engraved: Jack Banner. Near mint condition.	$35

Lady Sheaffer Skripsert

This is the cover of a 1959 Lady Sheaffer catalog from our private collection. It is actually more of a large brochure and contains 6 pages showing all of the patterns of the regular production Lady Sheaffer Skripsert fountain pens and pencils made to that date. Lady Sheaffers were given a Roman Numeral designation as well a name for each pattern.

SH1849	Lady Sheaffer Skripsert Set - This is a nice one! Lady Sheaffer Skripsert I in Tweed pattern - polished chrome with wavy engraved lines. This FP and MP are in original oval shaped stand up box with the gold pen pouch with clip, the cartridge pouch, instructions and warranty paper. FP has a bright red section with initials engraved: DLF. Mini Triumph palladium nib is a smooth writing fine point. Pencil is twist activated and uses 0.9mm diameter leads. The pen showed signs of ink when cleaned, but shows no signs of wear or any extensive use. The silver box shows some light drawer wear but overall is very good. Nice addition for those of you collect Skripserts!	$175
SH2029	Sheaffer Lady Sheaffer XVI Fountain Pen - Gold moire cap and barrel, Mandarin Red gripping section, raised circle of brilliants at cap edge. Sheaffer Lady Skripsert style pens were designed to used Sheaffer cartridges only, converter not available for this pen. 14KT gold mini Triumph nib, firm fine point. Measures 5 7/8 inches long. The moire finish is in superb condition, no damage. There are 2 or 3 of the brilliants missing, not uncommon for this model. Overall very good and one of the higher end Lady Skripsert fountain pens.	$80

Targa Pens

The Sheaffer Targa was named after Targa Florio, a sports car race held for many decades in Sicily. Many, many Targa models in a wide range of finishes were produced from 1976-1999.

SH1707	Targa Rollerball Demonstrator Pen - a bit out of the ordinary with chain attached! This pen was intended for dealers to use in their Targa displays. Brand new, these came to us in the original plastic sleeves, never made it the dealer display! Full sized all stainless steel Targa RB, polished chrome clip with white dot. Chain is permanently attached to the back of cap and measures 27 inches long. Cap does not remove, also permanently attached! We'll include the original refill that was with the pen, but is dry, plus a new refill that you can actually write with if you choose to do so! Mint condition.	$80

There are a couple of very light marks to lower half of pen just below center ring, not very noticeable at all. Otherwise very good.	$15

Crest Pens

The Sheaffer Crest was introduced in 1991, reminiscent of the Sheaffer Triumph series from the 1940s. The Crests were fitted with Sheaffer's famous "Triumph" conical wrap around nibs, some of the smoothest writing nibs made.

Uses current production Sheaffer ballpoint refills, a fresh one is included with pen. Measures 5 3/8 inches long. Made in Fort Madison. Used, but not abused and in very good condition.

Fashion Pens & Pencils

The photo above is a Sheaffer Fashion Ballpoint sample that came from the Sheaffer Paint Room at their factory in Fort Madison, Iowa. We purchased this pen and the desk it came in, in February 2007 at auction. Painted pen finishes were all produced in this section of the factory. The item is not real old, it is dated 1990, but we did find it fascinating that it was marked by hand.

In case you can't read the tag clearly in the photograph it says: "2330 FBP 645 Preferred finish, texture, and color of FPB 645 Dusty Rose. 9/18/90 D. Hauck"

FBP is an abbreviation for Fashion Ball Point and 645 was the stock number of this item.

Sheaffer’s famous Reminder style clip on the ballpoint pen. BP measures 5.25 inches long, Pencil is 5 inches long. Ballpoint uses current production Sheaffer BP refills, a fresh one is installed. Mechanical Pencil is twist activated and uses 0.9mm diameter leads. Clips of each writing instrument are engraved with initials WW. Set appears to have never been used and is in perfect condition. No Nonsense Pens

Sheaffer made No Nonsense Pens for many years with the threaded cap which many people find preferable to their newer style of Viewpoint with a friction fit cap. Designs ranged from plain black to some pretty wild designs. The nice thing about No Nonsense pens is that they truly are no nonsense pens and write first time, every time, very reliable.

Sheaffer No Nonsense pens measure 5.25 inches long. All of the ones listed below are in a minimum of very good condition, many are new old stock and have never been used.

Sheaffer No Nonsense Nib Units

The nibs listed below are nib units only for the original style No Nonsense fountain pens which have threaded sections and caps. Newer style No Nonsense have push on caps and a rubber gripping section. Nibs for the screw in style do not interchange with the rubber gripping section style. Nib are polished steel. All are new old stock.

Reminder Clip Ballpoint Pens

We think one of Sheaffer's most practical inventions ever was the "Reminder Clip" ballpoint pen. Depress the clip and the point extends. But, you must click it again to make the point retract and open the clip back up in order to clip it in your pocket. No chance of an ink stain ever with this handy little invention. The clip doesn't open, unless the refill is retracted. Sadly, Reminder Clip ballpens are no longer made. We try to round these up whenever we can because they are still very popular today.

SH2196D	Sheaffer Reminder Clip Ballpoint Pen, USA, ca. 1970s, New old stock from the 1970s with original gold foil tag on clip. Dark Grey barrel and 12KT gold filled cap with engraved straight line pattern. White dot at top of clip. Sheaffer's Reminder Clip pens were dropped from the line up many years ago - a real shame. When the clip is clicked, the refill extends to write and the space between clip and cap closes up meaning that you cannot clip this pen on your pocket until you click the clip again to retract the refill. Ink free pockets! Fresh refill installed in each pen. Excellent condition.	$35

Sheaffer desk set in custom made stand. This is a black jet glass desk stand, ca. 1940s with brass name plate (not engraved), brown striped swivel pen holder and matching brown striped Sheaffer Triumph white dot Desk Pen. The pen threads into the pen holder. The jet base has been set into what appears to be a beautifully custom made wood stand with inlaid wood around the edges and a pen groove across the front ? it is exceptionally well made. Base measures 10.75 x 5.5 inches. The Triumph desk pen is a vacuum fill model and has not been restored to working order. Very good condition and most unusual.

SH1814	Lifetime Desk Set, ca. late 1920s-early 1930s, black glass with single pen groove across the front. Beveled edges. Black socket with gold filled trim. Base measures 3.25 x 5 3/8 inches. Sheaffer Lifetime desk pen ? black and pearl celluloid barrel with black hard rubber taper. Lever fill. Sheaffers Lifetime 14KT gold nib in very firm fine point. Pen is 7.5 inches long. Pen is fully restored. Color is even on the black and pearl, but darker than it should be, I?d call it a 7 out of 10 with 10 being perfect color. Overall very good condition and this early desk base is not common.	$165

SH2022	One of a Kind Vaudeville Sheaffer Desk Set This desk set comes with a little story - The set was commissioned by Craig Sheaffer for his friend, William Soechtig. Mr. Soechtig and his 2 daughters (The Soechtig Sisters) were in vaudeville and apparently quite famous at one time. They lived in Fort Madison and this desk set came from the estate of the last daughter that passed away in 2005. It's unique in the true sense of the word. The base is black glass. Design is all hand painted. There are 2 original Sheaffer round white labels on the base, original green felt. Measures 5.75 x 7.25 inches. Single pen groove across the front. It has the round inset disk and black pen holder with single gold filled band, swivels 360 degrees. There is a small chip on the lower edge of front left corner. As you can see from the photos, some of the painting has worn over the years, but it's pretty much intact. Very well done and the design is just the essence of vaudeville. Sorry, no pen with this one.	$1500
SH2047	Sheaffer Desk Set, Mirrored base reflecting pinkish-copper tones with brass medallion in center and brass lower edge on base. I’m fairly sure that the mirror inset inside the base is an old silvered mirror because I can see the faintest hint of silvering in a few spots along the outer edge. Threaded brown pen holder with gold filled band near the top. The pen we’ve included with this set is a little newer by about 10 years, but the threads were right and it’s a color match. The FP is a ca. 1950s white dot Touchdown filling style in brown, nib is marked Sheaffer’S Reg US Pat Off Made in USA 14KT. Nib is 14KT two tone, fine point. Both pen and base are in very good condition.	$100
SH2053	Sheaffer Dry-Proof Desk Set - Sheaffer touted their Dry-Proof desk sets for having a pen holder that would keep your pen from drying out. Not sure if that was all advertising talk or not, but Sheaffer did make excellent desk sets! This one has a very pale green triangular onyx base with black radite pen holder and matching desk style black fountain pen. Gold filled bands on pen holder and FP. FP is lever fill and fills only from a bottle, 14KT gold SheafferS No. 3 nib is a responsive fine-medium point. Base measures 4 inches on each side, FP is 7.25 inches long. There is a tiny nick on the front left edge of base, FP is in very good condition with some light brassing on band and lever.	$100
SH2054	Sheaffer WASP Clipper Desk Set - WASP (W.A. Sheaffer Pen Co) was Sheaffer's alternative product to their popular white dot line and was introduced during the Depression era. Not a lot of WASP desk sets were made, far more pocket pens were produced. This WASP set has an oval shaped black glass base with center bright brass medallion. Black pen holder is stepped on the receiving end, traditional to WASP sets. Base measures 3x5 in at widest points, original WASP Clipper label is on the underside of base. Includes WASP Clipper black desk pen, lever filling - fills only from a bottle. Fit with a Sheaffer's No. 33 14KT gold nib, smooth fine point. FP measures 6.75 inches long. Very good condition and a hard to find desk set.	$100
SH2055	Sheaffer Desk Set – Clear glass with beveled edges, single pen groove across the front of stand. Early style black pen holder with gold filled band at lower edge. Includes an unusual Sheaffer lever filling desk style fountain pen in marine green marble celluloid, even the taper is made of matching celluloid instead of the more common black taper. Large white dot on barrel above lever. FP has a 14KT gold nib marked: Sheaffer’S Lifetime Reg US Pat Off Made in USA and is serialized 3184211. Barrel of FP is engraved: SS Epstein. Base measures 5.25 x 3.5 inches, FP is 6.75 inches long. FP barrel is darker than original, otherwise very good condition. No damage to glass base. Overall this set is in very good condition with an unusual Sheaffer desk pen.	$200

Pen measures 6.75 inches long. Base is 3.5 in square. Pen is in excellent-like new condition. There is small nick to the underside of the left front corner of the base, otherwise in very good condition. As noted, the fountain pen and pen holder are not original to the desk base. SH2153	Model T96 Desk Set – This is an uncommon ca. 1940s desk set with art metal finish in coppery/bronze colors and brass accent stripe down across center section of the base. Brown pen holder with gold filled socket and single gold filled band swivels 360 degrees. Originally, this desk set would have had a Triumph vacuum filling fountain pen. We have replaced with a Triumph nibbed brown Snorkel desk style fountain pen which is a perfect fit. Fully restored with 14KT gold two tone nib in fine point. Base measures 3.5 x 7.5 inches, fountain pen is 6.75 inches long. Fountain pen is in very good condition. The desk set is basically sound, but does have some spots of damage to the art metal finish as you can see in the photo.	$75

Refilling your
Vintage Mechanical Pencils

Most mechanical pencils made before the late 1960s and some even after that are refilled by feeding lead in from the Point End. Those that feed from the barrel (below the eraser) are a fairly modern invention! Don't be fooled by leads in the barrel, in older pencils, that was simply a space to store a few extra leads, but that's it - just storage. As always with vintage writing instruments, exceptions will crop up!
