Rhodia - Since 1932

The orange notebook with a cult following! They are a favorite of artists, designers, architects, scientists and people who like to use graph paper for notes, sketching and hand drafting. The bright orange covers are scored near the top to fold neatly behind the pad while writing.

The stationers known as "Papeteries VERILHAC Freres" was founded in Lyon, France in 1932 by two brothers, Henri and Robert Verilhac. They came from a family of paper merchants, with two brothers from the previous generation having set up a family business selling paper mainly in the southern part of France and French overseas interests in North Africa. In 1934, the company moved from Lyon to Sechilienne near Grenoble in the French Alps.

The brothers concentrated on producing and selling stationery, exercise books, and, later on, the Rhodia notebook. The Rhodia trademark - two fir trees was used for most of the products and especially the notebooks. It was said the two trees were a symbol of the two brothers.

The Rhodia notebook, originally a sideline for Rhodia, was to become its most famous product. It immediately overshadowed other notebooks of the time because of its quality materials and original design of a scored folding front cover. The orange cover dates back to the 1930s. It remains unchanged to this day.

Rhodia Pencils

Form meets function! The Rhodia bright orange pencils are both a delight to look at as well as to write with. Triangular shaped wood pencils are made of black Linden wood and lacquered in Rhodia's traditional bright orange. Black eraser tops each pencil off. Lead is HB - medium. Pencil measures 7.5 inches in length, but not for long! These are comfortable pencils to write with, you'll be sharpening away and ready for the next one in no time at all!

Rhodia Pad Holders

Keep your Rhodia tablets in sturdy, lightly grained leatherette holders in either Rhodia Orange or Classic Black! Each features an inner pocket inside the front cover to hold loose receipts and papers, and includes one Rhodia grid tablet. Pad holders open from the top/short side of tablet.

Rhodia writing pads from France are designed for artists. We've found the paper to be exceptionally smooth and sheets hold fountain pen ink very well. Bright orange covers are scored near the top to fold neatly behind the pad while writing. Sheets are perforated for easy removal. Paper is 21.2 LB high grade white vellum. 80 sheets per pad.
